My Pumpkin Harvest

This post should more accurately be titled something like My Pumpkin Scavenge because I didn't actually pick them. These three, I found thrown in a brush pile across the street! I also have three more that I rescued from a dumpster while taking a walk.  I'm sure I was quite a sight walking along with one baby in the stroller and one in the sling, lugging a pumpkin under one arm and toting two more in the basket under the stroller! Oh, my! I was glad I didn't have far to go - just around the corner. My fifth pumpkin, grown by my sister in law, Lydia, and given to me, has already been made into pumpkin puree and stored in the freezer. These other ones will probably follow this week.

  1. We puree our pumpkins and eat them too. Even the ones that aren't 'pie' pumpkins. :) My mother-in-law gave me her pumpkins that she decorated with for fall and those will go to the chickens. I can't imagine someone tossing out perfectly good pumpkins! And I love that quilt. :)

    Have a great day.
